How the rankings are worked out
- Where the listings come from
- From 6 neighbourhood directories: Lewisham, Bexleyheath, Eltham, Catford, Sidcup, Crayford. This site holds no listings of its own. Each name you click opens on the directory it came from.
- The ordering rule
- Google star rating, highest first. Where two are level, the one with more reviews goes above. A business needs 25 reviews to enter a ranked table, because a 5.0 from six people says less than a 4.8 from six hundred.
- Whose scores these are
- Google’s. We do not score, review or inspect anyone. Today that is 285,196 reviews across 1,108 rated businesses, read on 10 October 2026. A rating can move after that date.
- Paying does not move you up
- Adverts are sold on the town directories and are labelled there. They have no effect on any table here.
- Boroughs and postcodes
- A business is filed under the postcode district in its address. Borough pages group whole directories, and a directory follows its high street, so a place close to a boundary can show under the neighbouring borough.
- What is left out
- Listings a town directory has marked as unconfirmed, trades found on only one directory, and any address outside Greater London.
- Fixing or removing a listing
- Use the contact page on the directory that holds it. The change reaches this site the next time it reads the data. To add a business, see get listed.
South East London Directory is published by the same team as the town directories. Adverts across several towns are booked through The Directory King.
